Alcester & Ragley 94-4 beat Earlwood 93 all out by six wickets.
Losing the toss against high flying Earlswood we were asked to field first at home on sat. This was a good result for us as we only had 3 recognised bowlers available due to holidays and Jethros injury - hope you are ok jethro ? However thoughts of not enough bowling were soon a distant memory as Richard Layton bowled opener Denison with a beauty 4th ball of the match and then had number 3 Everett plumb lb as he padded up to a straight one. 0-2 after one over. 4 overs latper Layton produced another fast Yorker to clean up number 4 Warotra for 9, 16-3. Tim Jackson got in on the act as k everatt was adjudged lbw for 6 a decision he didn't take kindly to, but it looked plumb to the rest of us. 28-4. Jackson also accounted for opener Reeve who had moved untroubled to 21 before he was caught and bowled. 41-5. There was then a period of scoring mainly from edges before Layton produced an unplayable ball to pin back Cravens off stump for 16. Smith followed next over bowled off his pads and Layton had his 3rd successive 5 for against Earlswood. It was to be 6 as 2 balls later he bowled Brooks for 0. 59-8. Layts finished with superb figures of 6-31 and Jacko 2-35. Earlswood skipper Snipe batted well but he couldn't prevent the final 2 wickets to fall as Brucee Wayne justified his dropping from keeper to bowler by having Haset brilliantly caught behind by Paul Dipple for 3 and then last man Callred was caught by Pilko off Sticky also for 3. 93 all out another fantastic bowling display - third time in succession we have bowled teams out for less than a 100. Which is always nice when you're a batsman having to chase so few !!
